Thanks to tips to the Hummelstown Police Department, a man suspected of trying to rob a woman at the Hummelstown 7-Eleven has been identified.

Hummelstown police have not yet released details as to his identity, but said they have interviewed him and charges will be filed today. They had sought help from the public by posting the suspect’s picture online.

The attempted robbery, according to police, took place at the 7-Eleven at 32 N. Hanover. St. on Sunday.

Sgt. Justin D. Hess said the Hummelstown Police Department wishes to thank all the individuals (more than 20) who “provided quick and accurate tips that identified the suspect.”

He thanked the Press & Journal for posting the information on its website. The post was the most viewed on www.pressandjournal.com on Sunday.

“When members of the press are able to engage their readers with accurate information and those readers are willing to provide tips, law enforcement officials are able to quickly resolve criminal cases,” he said.
