A 36-mile section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be closed in both directions between Somerset (Exit 110) and Bedford (Exit 146) interchanges from 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 through 5 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2.

The closure is needed to allow crews to remove the old overhead bridge at milepost 129, which carried Findlay Street over the Turnpike in New Baltimore Borough, Somerset County, according to Turnpike officials. The bridge replacement is needed to accommodate a future six-lane widening project between mileposts 124-134.

The following are the recommended detours for Turnpike motorists:

EASTBOUND MOTORISTS:

• Exit Somerset Interchange

• Follow signs to S.R. 281 south (1 mile)

• S.R. Route 31 east (35.6 miles)

• U.S. Route 30 east (2 miles)

• U.S. Route 220 north (2.3 miles)

• Reenter the Turnpike eastbound at Bedford Interchange.

• U.S. Route 30 west (31.8 miles)
