Ruth A. Weirich


Ruth A. Weirich, 85, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Frey Village Nursing Home, Middletown, Pa.

She was born on September 15, 1931 in Huntingdon, Pa. and was the daughter of the late Chester and Etta (Bare) Hammond.

Ruth was a former employee at the former Roughware Clothing Co., Middletown and Kuppy’s Diner. She was a member of Royalton Emmanuel UMC, Liberty Fire Co., and the Royalton Senior Citizens Committee. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, Sudoku puzzles, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert G. Weirich.

She is survived by her four children, Nancy L. Persuhn and her husband Clyde of Annville, Pa., Richard A. Weirich of Middletown, Carol A. Lindsey and her husband Robert of Middletown, and Brian L. Weirich and his wife Cherie of Middletown; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Shirley Hoffman, Mable Harkelroad, Mary Mitchell, Ruthie Sunderland, and Phyllis Harkelroad; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A tribute to her life will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery.
