Rosalie Taylor


Born in Pittsburgh on October 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Molnar Tumbry.

She served for 36 years as a schoolteacher touching the lives of many as she taught one generation after another. She began her teaching career as a substitute in Altoona and retired as a reading specialist from the Middletown Area School District. She was a 1958 graduate of Scwickley Township High School, a 1962 graduate of California State Teachers College, California, Pa., and received her master’s degree as a reading specialist from Penn State University. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Club, Steelton, and a former member of the Capital City Polka Dancers. Rose would tell you that her hobbies were, “books, birds, and music.”          

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy R. Taylor on January 3, 2007.        

She is survived by two sons Patrick J. Taylor of Fredericksburg, Va., and Timothy John Taylor (Sandra) of Harrisburg; one sister Betty Ann Suchko (Andrew) of Belle Vernon; and six grandchildren Elizabeth, Caitlin, Tyler, Brianna, Jonathan and Rebecca.       

A Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 24, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township, with the Rev. Dr. John G. Reitz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Public Library, 20 North Catherine St., Middletown, PA  17057.
