Nancy J. Simpson


Nancy J. Simpson, 85, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Hershey Medical Center. She was the widow of Robert Simpson Sr.

She was born March 16, 1934 in Loag's Corner, Pa. and was the loving daughter of the late Charles L. and Pearl (Smith) Oatman.

Nancy retired, after 33 years, from the state of PA where she was a word processor. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Middletown.

Nancy enjoyed many things such as going out with friends, crafts, hot air balloons, picnics, visiting people who needed a friend, watching church TV and the 700 Club, and was an avid fan of “The Price is Right” and McDonald’s ice coffee. She loved helping at her church with the Threads of Hope and God’s Kitchen. She would hug everyone and anyone, especially if she thought that they needed it. Her family described her hugs as the best hugs that you could ever receive.

Nancy is survived by her son, Robert Simpson Jr. (Maria) of Texas; daughter, Robin Shue of Middletown; brothers, Charles Oatman and William Oatman (Marlene), both of Honey Brook; sister, Joyce Peters of Enola; five grandchildren, Jason Powell (Jennifer) of Middletown, Amanda Pressley Lugo (Robert) of Harrisburg, Robert Simpson III, Charles Simpson (Stephanie), and James Simpson (Crystal), all of Harker Heights, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Brody and Harper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 4855 Londonderry Rd., Harrisburg, Pa., with the Rev. Naylo Hopkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Nancy’s name to Wesley United Methodist Church, God’s Kitchen, 64 Ann St., Middletown, PA 17057.

The family has entrusted the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown with handling the arrangements
