David John said goodbye to the Middletown Area School Board at his last meeting Monday, Nov. 20.

John served 16 years on the board since first being elected in 2001. John also served on the board for a period after being appointed in 1995.

John chose not to run for re-election in 2017 and will be replaced by Julie L. Gomboc-Turyan of Middletown, who was elected to a two-year seat on Nov. 7.

Superintendent Lori Suski described John as “a champion for children and for public education” whose service will be “sorely missed” by the board, school district and community.
