James T. Simmons


James “Jim” Thomas Simmons, died peacefully on the evening of September 25, 2019 at Community General Hospital in Harrisburg. Jim was visited and comforted by friends and family who were with him at the time of his passing. Jim was 62 years old.

Jim was a 1974 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. He recently retired emeritus from Harrisburg Area Community College where he enjoyed working in the computer department for over 30 years.

Jim had a strong interest in mechanical things, especially airplanes, and also liked photography, camping, hiking, and classic movies. He was very fond of Middletown, Pennsylvania where he lived and spent most of his life. His friends and loved ones appreciated his sense of humor, his insights, and his easy-going manner. Jim liked guinea pigs.

Jim was born in Danville, Pa. on December 21, 1956. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Edward Simmons, son of Raymond and Eva (Wormald), and his mother Elizabeth Rita Simmons (Knovich), daughter of George and Mary (Gessick). Jim is survived by his son Thomas Simmons, his daughter-in-law Heather Jorgensen, and his granddaughter Luna Simmons who affectionately called him “Pops”.
