How will you honor your mom Sunday?: LaVonne Ackerman

Hello, people!

It is that time of year again when we think about Mother's Day and how to best honor our mom. Do you know how important it is to your mom that you acknowledge your love and appreciation for her?

Have a wonderful week. Here are some suggestions to guide you along:

Mother’s Day Gifts

Do you want to give mom a gift from your heart to hers? Here are some ideas:

1. Spend Time coupons. Personalize them. They can be simple tasks or just about spending time together.

2. Ask her how she would like to spend a day with you. Does she like talking? Biking? Maybe she would just like to stroll around the neighborhood. Ask her. If you can’t give a day, give half a day.

3. Do you like to draw? Write? Sing? Are you a poet? Give of yourself by making something memorable for her.

4. Music. What does she like? Put together a sound track of her favorites. Do you want this to be a total surprise? Find out the years she spent in high school and do some research. Surely, she probably liked several from the top 10 lists back in the day.

5. Favorite foods. Either buy or bake them, then hang around and share in the tasting.

6. Mothers are mothers every day. She probably would like to hear from you every week, or every couple of days, or maybe even every day! Send her short texts with notes of affirmation. She doesn’t text? Telephone her, email her or snail mail a card once in awhile.

7. Storytelling. When you sit and visit with her, try to remember the positive things she did for you. Share the funny stories, endearing times, and the things about you that make you thankful for her.

8. Spy. Find out through other family members or friends what would most speak to her heart right now, at this season. Face it, we have moods and some things we loved years ago aren’t high up on that list of favorites anymore. Find out and do it.

9. Passions. Learn what hers are and research them a bit. Enter into her world and get interested in what interests her. Really listen to her.

10. Hugs. Give them freely, all year long.

To all you moms out there, have a wonderful day Sunday!
