Harry Shubert


Henry R. Shubert, 97, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 12, at Emeritus Senior Living Center, Harrisburg.

He was born in Ranshaw, Pa. on November 2, 1916 and was the son of the late Adam and Mary Ponchar Shubert.

He was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown, the Ranshaw Hunting Club, and American Legion Post 14, St. Petersburg, Fla.; he retired from the United States Air Force with 23 years of service and from the United States Postal Service where he was a mail carrier; he was a faithful usher and volunteer for many years at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; and he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine Shubert who passed away in 1981, and his grandson Richard Shubert-Hudson.

He is survived by his three sons Richard, husband of Tammy Shubert of California, John Shubert, and Robert Shubert, both of Middletown; daughter Cheryl, wife of Steve Jerris of Florida; sister Dorothy Derosa of New Jersey; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, December 16, at his church, with the Rev. Ted Keating as celebrant.

Burial was in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Elysburg, Pa.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Middletown.
