Hello, people! And the best part of February is upon us! Happy Valentine’s Day! Yay for hearts, chocolate, flowers, pink, red, poems and love! 

How is winter going for you? I heard that the weather has been cold, and warm! The warmer days sure do lift the spirits.

Wintertime is fun when it comes to spending down time at home.

Do you like to read, play games, watch movies? A nasty weather day is the perfect time to get cozy with a good book! Or a beautiful day on the beach is also a wonderful time to get lost in a story.

Dinner time

All are invited to a roast turkey dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17 (or until sold out) at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 157 E. Water St., Middletown.

Dinner includes stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, dessert (with a Valentine treat), and beverage.

Takeouts can be purchased as well.

Everyone is welcome (a handicapped entrance is available). There is a charge.

Yum Chocolate Peanut Pie

2 squares unsweetened chocolate

1/4 c. butter

3/4 c. sugar

1/2 c. brown sugar, packed firm

1/2 c. milk

1/4 c. light corn syrup

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

3 eggs

1 c. salted peanuts, chopped

1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell

Melt chocolate and butter together. Remove from heat, allow to cool somewhat. In a medium bowl, combine all sugars, milk, corn syrup, vanilla and eggs. Beat until blended. Beat in chocolate mixture. Stir in peanuts. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
