Dean Drayer


Dean Drayer, 87, from Hummelstown, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 6, 2019.

Dean was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Snavely) Drayer of Middletown.

Dean graduated from Middletown High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked for 32 years as a systems analyst at the Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg before his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed hunting and working in his garden and being around his family.

He was also a member of the Hershey Italian Lodge, the American Legion Post 594, Middletown, and a member of the former Golden Group at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by a brother, Donald and a sister, Louise. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lillian Drayer; a brother Ed and his wife Pat; his three children, son Luke and his wife Kelly, son Jason and daughter Michele; and four grandchildren, Travis, Luke Jr., Zachary and Mallory.

A tribute to Dean’s life will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown, with the Rev. Ted Keating officiating. Viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019 and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday, both at the funeral home.
