Breakdown for Monday, May 25: On a day of small increases in Pa., even southeast numbers are low

Posted

Here is a look at the numbers by county in Pennsylvania according to numbers released Monday by the state Department of Health, including the number of cases and day-over-day change, negative tests and day-over-day change, and number of deaths with the day-over-day change.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed 473 additional positive cases of COVID-19 — the fewest new cases in almost exactly two months, in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. That brings the statewide total to 68,186 in all 67 counties. The highest one-day increase in total cases statewide remains 1,989 on April 9.

The increase is only about 0.7 percent from the previous day, the lowest since the pandemic started. The last time the number of new cases was so low was March 25, when there were 276 new cases to bring the statewide total to 1,127. That amount, however, was a 32.4 percent increase over the previous day, because the number of total cases was so few then. On March 26, there were 560 new cases, and there hasn’t been a new daily total of less than 560 since then.

The state also reported only 15 new deaths, for 5,139 total, in 54 counties. That’s also one of the lowest numbers of new deaths reported in recent weeks.

We are listing the county numbers by their Department of Health regions, to group them in the way the state is looking at them for possible reductions in restrictions from the coronavirus.
