Howdy, folks! Can you believe it is time to close the book on 2017? We scratch our heads and ask ourselves, where did the time go?

I hope this holiday week does not go too swiftly for you. Relax, enjoy, and make some memories!

Now is a good time to reflect on the past and to look forward to the new!

What do you look forward to in 2018? I hate to think of New Year’s resolutions. I would rather make positive changes and stick to them.

Recipe for Texas Hash

from the Wedding Book Collection

This is something for a cold January day!

1 lb. ground meat

1 green pepper, chopped

1 onion (medium), chopped

Brown above ingredients.

Combine meat, 1/2 cup uncooked regular rice, 2 small cans tomato sauce and 2 tablespoons of chili powder in a 2 or 3 quart casserole. Mix.

Arrange several slices of cheese (your choice) on top. Bake, covered 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Ladies brunch

All women are invited to attend “A New Year, A New You” brunch buffet presented by Hershey Area Women’s Connection. The brunch will be held at Hershey Italian Lodge, 128 Hillcrest Road, Hershey, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Featured: Lisa Shaver from Middletown, adviser with “H2O at Home.” Musicians will be “A Pipe Band” with Jeremy Shaver from Middletown and Ryan Shaver from Dauphin.

The speaker is Robin Luftig, author from Enola, discussing “Thriving After Adversity.” A key point of discussion will be: “A life is changed when mercy and grace replace harmful words.”
