Thanksgiving dinners to be provided via RaiderPacks

Middletown’s Human Relations Commission and Communities That Care are partnering to provide Thanksgiving dinners through RaiderPacks.

The commission, a body appointed by borough council, on Nov. 7 received council approval to spend $1,100 from the commission’s 2018 budget to buy meat for the dinners.

RaiderPacks is an initiative launched in late 2017 by two Middletown Area School District teachers to address hunger throughout the Middletown Area School District.

RaiderPacks provides food to more than 200 families and nearly 350 students throughout the school district each week, said Council Vice President Mike Woodworth. He is the one who requested approval to spend the $1,100 as a member of the commission.

RaiderPacks is now receiving donations of dry goods for the Thanksgiving dinners, Woodworth said.
