Middletown Area High School student's poster honored, was on display at State Museum

Middletown Area High School student Mahnoor Azim’s poster “Strike Out Alcohol” was selected as one of the winning entries in the annual Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest hosted by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board

Only forty-six of the posters were selected to be featured at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. The student artists were honored at a ceremony on April 4 at the museum. All winning posters were on display at the museum April 9-13.

MAHS teacher Dan Riggs assigned his Health and Human Sexuality classes the task of creating a poster for the contest. The students were challenged to design a poster using their own words and images that promoted safe and healthy alternatives to underage drinking. A group of teachers and administrators served as judges and selected a few posters to be submitted to the contest.

The Bureau of Alcohol Education received more than 800 submissions from area students.
