Mary M. (Krieger) Hawk, 83, of Middletown, transitioned peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 29, 2016.
She was born on January 16, 1933 in Shamokin, Pa. and was the loving daughter of the late John and Mary (Borusiewicz) Krieger.
She inspired the lives of many through her volunteer work with her church, Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and her fundraising talents with the Middletown Boy’s Club. She excelled in her role as family matriarch-always leading by example. She loved to laugh, travel and spend time with her family.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Edward Hawk, two sisters Regina Krieger and Dorothy Navrocki, and two grandchildren Vickie Sharp and Amanda Wisniewski.
She is survived by her seven children, Edward Hawk Jr., and wife Mary of Middletown, Stephen Hawk and wife Cheryl of Lower Paxton, Christine Hawk and partner Margaret of Duncannon, John Hawk and wife Jill of Carlisle, Robert Hawk of Middletown, Deborah Sharp and husband Edward of Middletown, and Cathy Wisniewski and husband Frank of Middletown; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister Florence Mercury and husband Anthony of Hagerstown, Md.; one brother John Krieger and wife Patricia of Easton, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing at Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown from 10 to 11:15 a.m. on Thursday February 4, 2016, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with the Reverend Ted Keating on Thursday, at 12:00 p.m. at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 280 N. Race St., Middletown, followed by burial at Middletown Cemetery.
