Two former members of the USL Pro’s Harrisburg City Islanders will coach the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Penn State Harrisburg this season.

Seamus Donnelly, who played forward for the Islanders in 2004, will coach the men’s team, while Adam Clay, a former midfielder for the Islanders, will coach the women’s team.

Clay, 29, will also be the university’s sports information manager.

Donnelly, 41, a native of Ireland, played college soccer for Franklin & Pierce University in the U.S., earning Division II All-American honors as well as Academic All-American honors.

He is the all-time leading scorer for the Virginia Beach Mariners, and won a United Soccer League championship with the Charleston Battery. He also was an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team at Elizabethtown College.

Clay, a Pennsylvania native,  was a three-time regional All-American in soccer at Bloomsburg University and played with the Islanders in 2007. He has also served as the coaching director for the Hershey Soccer Club.

Penn State Harrisburg also has named a baseball and golf coach for the fall season.

Ryan Bown, who guided Shippensburg University to the NCAA Division II World Series in 2008, will coach the university’s baseball team. Bown served as coach of Hershey High School last year, guiding the Trojans to the top of the Mid-Penn Conference’s Keystone Division and an appearance in the conference’s championship tournament last spring.

Bown, a Palmyra resident, pitched for Ursinus College, earning the school’s Rookie of the Year honors in 2002 and Most Valuable Player honors in 2004.

Nolan Peterson, a local golf professional, will coach Penn State Harrisburg’s golf team. The York College graduate is currently head professional at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course, where the Lions play their home matches.

Peterson has also served as a pro at the Links at Gettysburg and Bon Air Country Club in Glen Rock.
