District seeks permission to borrow $2.5 million

The Steelton-Highspire School District has filed a petition in Dauphin County Court to seek permission to borrow $2.5 million to cover its debt.

In the petition dated Jan. 8, the cash-strapped district said it would need to approve a bond issue to cover its debt.
Superintendent Audrey Utley, said while the district continues to pay its bills, it is 90 days behind. The interest on the late payments is an issue that could be solved with a bond, she said.
