Edna Elizabeth McCurdy
, 103, a 70-year resident of Witherspoon Ave., Middletown, passed away on Monday, March 19, at Lancaster General Hospital.
The oldest of 11 children, she was born February 24, 1909 in Bainbridge, the daughter of the late Harry F. Sr. and Elizabeth S. Bryan McCurdy and stepdaughter of the late Jessie K. Witman McCurdy.
Edna recently celebrated her 103rd birthday at Manor Care, Lancaster, surrounded by her family and friends. She performed domestic work for people of Middletown well into her 80s and almost agelessly drove until her 100th birthday. Edna was a lover of cats, dogs and flowers, especially roses. She attended the two-room Wickersham School in Conoy Township.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Freeman S. (Louise), George W. Sr. (Toots), Loman L., Harold D., and Richard L. McCurdy, and sisters Ethel M. (infant) and Dorothy J. Richwine (Earl).
She is survived by her brothers Harry F. Jr. (late Betty) of York, and Lesley L. McCurdy of Mt. Joy; sister Doris L. Tyson (Burt) of Mt. Joy; sisters-in-law Helen, Donna and Nancy McCurdy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Life Celebration services were held on Friday at Coble-Reber Funeral Home, Middletown.
Interment was at Bainbridge Cemetery.
