Charged after crash
Wilbur J. Etter Jr., 67, of the first block of Sara St., Harrisburg, was charged with DUI, careless driving, speeding and disregarding lanes of traffic, police report.
The charges were filed after Etter’s 2008 Mercury Mariner struck several mailboxes in the area of Rosedale Avenue and Morgan Drive at 6:30 p.m. on June 6, police said. Etter told the investigating officer he went off the road when he had a coughing episode and lost control of his SUV, police said.
Etter was taken to the Dauphin County Judicial Center, where blood was drawn to determine the possible presence of intoxicants. Results of the tests were not reported by police.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 23 before District Judge Michael Smith.
A resident in the first block of Heathglen Road told police the glass in a screened door was broken by unknown persons on June 21.
Police believe the vandalism took place between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Investigators told the resident that officers would perform routine checks in the neighborhood for several weeks as a follow-up.
Eggs were thrown at a vehicle at a residence in the 1000 block of Blacklatch Lane.
The owner of the 2013 Hyundai Accent told police he believes the vandalism took place sometime on June 19 or 20.
Police said the vehicle’s paint was chipped from the impact of the eggs. No damage estimate was reported.
