WOODS AND WATERS: Boaters, beware – the weather is warmer, but the water still is cold

Spring weather is right around the corner. After a long, cold and icing winter, it's about time for milder temperatures, shorts and T-shirts.

Springtime prompts boaters to venture onto their favorite waterways to engage in their love of boating, fishing and recreational kayaking. Unfortunately, spring is also the time of many mishaps.

Water temperatures are still cold. Temperatures at this time of year are a hidden disaster waiting to pounce on the unexpected. Any water temperature lower than 70 degrees can produce hypothermia.
