Two former Marines bicycle across the country to raise money for video games and other toys for kids in children’s hospitals

He loved video games. So much that he hoped to get a job designing them someday, once he got out of the war in Iraq. Back at the base, he rented his games to other Marines. They called him “Best Buy.’’

One day, during the real game of war, Best Buy volunteered to do an additional security sweep around his platoon’s base in Al Anbar province.

While on patrol, he was shot to death by a sniper. He had just turned 21 about two weeks before his death in 2007. Maybe Lance Cpl. Johnny Strong, a mortarman with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, would have created awesome games . . .
