While several members of the Steelton-Highspire boys’ basketball team saw their football season end on Dec. 7, the rest of the team was struggling without them during the first week of games.
But just a couple days later, all of the Rollers came together and with great chemistry won both games this week.
The Rollers (2-2, 2-0 in the Mid-Penn Conference’s Capital Division) earned their first win of the season, defeating Northern York 86-52 on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
“I think our guys came out and competed today. It was the first time we had all the guys together with football just ending,” Coach Tramayne Hawthorne said. “I was proud of our effort. There’s some little stuff we’ve got to clean up, but overall we did well.”
Anthony Wright led the Rollers in scoring with 17 points. Broderick Simmons-Settles and Jaki Bowman each added 15 points, with Bowman hitting three 3-point shots, and Jaron Grayer added 10 points.
