Students at Reid and Kunkel elementary schools got a visit from a guy who spends a lot of time in the air.
He doesn’t go very high, but, well, he’s up a lot.
Mark Rothstein, aka ‘The Rock,’ of Atlanta, is a professional jump-roper who has traveled the nation for 25 years visiting schools to promote rope jumping, fitness, and character building. Rothstein established the world record for jumping rope — 22 hours — in the 1980s, and achieved a second world record for 36 hours in the 1990s.
This is the fifth year that Rothstein has performed in Middletown.
Earl Bright, Reid Elementary School principal, said he met Rothstein years ago and was inspired by his ability to connect with kids and get them to participate.
