‘Boobies’ golf tournament a bright spot in the rain

by Madeline Masters, Press And Journal Staff : 9/17/2008

Cloudy skies and wet weather didn’t stop 100 golfers from hitting the course for the first-ever Feel Your Boobies golf tournament on Sept. 12.

“People like playing golf regardless of the weather,” said Laura Gifford, marketing manager for FYB.

Though most golfers didn’t make it through all 18 holes, Gifford said, “Everybody had a really good time despite the rain.”

The event benefited the Feel Your Boobies Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness and promote self-examinations, especially among young women, who are at risk for the disease also.

Gifford said although they couldn’t determine a winner, they still raffled out prizes to the tournament guests.

The event raised about $3,500 for the foundation, according to Gifford.

She said they received a lot of positive feedback that would help them plan it “bigger and better” next time around.

Gifford said the foundation organizers plan to hold a second annual golf tournament in September next year.

HOW YA DOIN’? This team is ready to roast the competition and raise some money for breast cancer awareness at the first annual Feel Your Boobies golf tournament. From left to right: Brad Ditty, Mike Koppenhaver, Mike Sinowitz, and Jason Donovan.
