An improved serve carries Kapenstein to a Mid-Penn Conference title
Harry Kapenstein had just gotten interested in playing tennis, so he didn’t expect to play singles matches for Middletown when the high school tennis season began.
Playing his older brother, Dan, at the courts at Middletown Area High School was fun, but it didn’t seem like an opening to a high school championship.
Kapenstein, a sophomore, beat another teammate to earn a spot as the third of three singles players on a Blue Raiders team that was 1-9 last year and hadn’t recorded a winning season in years.
